Forum for Security, Safety, Policing and Cyber - Israel–Greece Chamber of Commerce

Dear colleagues,

My name is Alon Levavi,

Retired Major General. I served for 26 years in the Israel Police, and a total of 34 years in Israel's security system. My career began as a combat helicopter pilot in the Israeli Air Force and concluded as the Deputy Commissioner of the Israel Police. I am honored to begin my role as Head of the Forum for Security, Safety, and Cyber within the Israel–Greece Chamber of Commerce, of which I am a full member. I would like to thank the Chamber’s Director General, Mr. Kobi Biton, who led the Forum’s activities for a long time and invested greatly in its development and advancement. The Israel–Greece Chamber of Commerce focuses on strengthening business and trade relations between the two countries by initiating business opportunities, organizing exhibitions and seminars, and holding professional conferences and meetings. The Forum for Security, Safety, and Cyber is one of four professional forums within the Chamber and operates as a professional community within the broader Chamber network. We are living in a time characterized by strategic security challenges with long-term implications, both locally and globally. Broad security issues are receiving increased attention worldwide, reflected in significant investments in areas such as defense, security, cyber, and resilience—in both Israel and Greece. Emerging threats such as wars and conflicts (e.g., Israel-Hamas/Hezbollah/Iran, Russia-Ukraine, India-Pakistan, ThailandCambodia, China and its neighbors), alongside technological advances (AI, drones, robotics, autonomous systems, cyber defense, command and control), require up-to-date capabilities for information gathering and dissemination. The reality in which “the home front becomes the frontline” and the understanding that its resilience is critical demand development and investment in HLS, security, and first responder capabilities. Additional threats—such as climate change, natural disasters, rising antisemitism, transnational crime, uncontrolled migration, drug and human trafficking—also require professional reassessment and preparedness from security forces and first responders. The cyber domain, which has evolved from being a threat to nations and large organizations into a real and daily threat to individuals and small entities, also demands unique attention and response.
