Webinar Recording & Summary | Investing and Doing Business in Greece - A Practical Guide for Israeli Companies July 30, 2026

Israel-Greece Chamber of Commerce & Industry in cooperation with
KMP Law
The Israel-Greece Chamber of Commerce & Industry held a professional webinar on
Investing and Doing Business in Greece, led by Konstantinos M. Petoumenos, Founder
and Managing Partner of KMP Law. The webinar was designed to provide Israeli
companies, entrepreneurs, and investors with practical guidance on the legal, tax, and
regulatory aspects of establishing and expanding business activities in Greece.
Greece as an Investment Destination
The webinar presented Greece as an attractive investment destination, highlighting its stable
regulatory framework, membership in the European Union and the Eurozone, geographical
proximity to Israel, and the strong economic ties between the two countries. Particular
attention was given to sectors offering significant opportunities for Israeli investors, including
energy, technology, tourism, logistics, real estate, agriculture, manufacturing, and life
sciences.
The Five Stages of a Successful Investment
The presentation introduced a structured framework designed to support investors
throughout the entire investment lifecycle:
● Selecting the appropriate business structure and legal entity.
● Conducting due diligence and managing legal and commercial risks.
● Meeting licensing and regulatory requirements.
● Tax planning and utilizing available investment incentives.
● Ongoing corporate governance, business operations, and exit strategy planning.
A key message throughout the session was that successful investments begin with careful
planning long before a company is formally established.
Legal and Regulatory Planning
One of the central themes of the webinar was the importance of selecting the most
appropriate business structure based on the company's objectives. Various operating
models were presented, including establishing a Greek subsidiary, opening a branch office,

forming a joint venture, or operating through a permanent establishment, together with the
legal and practical implications of each option.
The presentation also emphasized compliance with key regulatory requirements, including
obtaining a Greek tax identification number, completing mandatory registrations with public
authorities, complying with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations, adhering to the
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), fulfilling reporting obligations, and obtaining
sector-specific licenses where applicable.
Due Diligence and Risk Management
The speaker stressed that comprehensive due diligence prior to making an investment is
essential for identifying legal, commercial, and tax risks, minimizing future exposure, and
avoiding unnecessary costs. Participants were encouraged to engage experienced local
legal, tax, and financial advisors from the earliest stages of planning.
Taxation and Investment Incentives
The webinar provided an overview of the Greek tax system and the Double Taxation
Agreement between Israel and Greece, together with available government and European
investment incentive programs. It was noted that many grants and incentive schemes
require applications to be submitted before the investment begins, making early planning
particularly important.
Managing Business Operations
The session also addressed the ongoing obligations of companies operating in Greece,
including corporate governance, regulatory reporting, labor law compliance, accounting
requirements, licensing obligations, and sound financial management. The importance of
well-drafted commercial agreements and proactive legal guidance in reducing disputes and
mitigating business risks was also highlighted.
Exit Strategy Planning
A topic receiving particular emphasis was the importance of planning an exit strategy from
the outset. According to the speaker, early exit planning provides greater business flexibility,
facilitates future fundraising, and enables more efficient and profitable mergers, acquisitions,
business restructurings, or exits when opportunities arise.
Participants' Questions and Future Activities
The webinar concluded with an interactive Q&A session covering taxation, investment
structures, the costs of operating a company in Greece, regulatory requirements, and
practical challenges faced by Israeli investors.

At the conclusion of the webinar, the Israel-Greece Chamber of Commerce & Industry and
KMP Law announced their intention to continue organizing professional webinars on
additional topics. The next webinar is expected to focus on Venture Capital funds, Family
Offices, and additional regulatory aspects of investing in Greece, with invitations to be
distributed to participants and interested companies during September.
Conclusion
The webinar provided participants with a comprehensive overview of the investment and
business establishment process in Greece-from initial planning and company formation,
through ongoing business operations, to long-term exit strategy planning. While Greece
offers substantial opportunities for Israeli businesses, the key takeaway was that successful
investments depend on careful preparation, professional guidance, and a thorough
understanding of the country's legal, regulatory, and tax framework.Investing and Doing Business in Greece, led by Konstantinos M. Petoumenos, Founder
